Nearly 25,000 Left Without Power in Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Severe Storms
Around 25,000 households in south-east Queensland found themselves lacking electricity on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms impacted the area, generating strong winds topping 109 kilometers per hour.
Massive Frozen Precipitation and Extensive Destruction
Residents witnessed large ice chunks as large as 7cm in certain regions. Meteorological experts announced that multiple regions across Queensland had been impacted by significant hail.

Response teams were attempting to repair electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with dozens of response units activated to handle the widespread outages.
Victorian Climate Difficulties
At the same time, approximately 1,000 energy customers in Victoria also encountered energy failures after the metropolitan area recorded its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.
Emergency response teams handled nearly 600 emergency reports across the state, mostly for structural issues but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

- Hoppers Crossing suburb - various assistance requests
- Wyndham - over 175 calls for assistance
During the peak on Sunday, in excess of twenty-eight thousand power users in the state were lacking electricity.
Weather Forecast
Damp conditions were expected to linger along much of Queensland's east this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the coast.
Tomorrow was predicted as the wettest day, with continued storm activity expected across multiple regions of both areas.
Safety Concern
Health officials warned that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the northern rural areas, especially given the current weather patterns.
This caution comes after past events where similar conditions led to significant health impacts in the region.
